May: UK should have family-friendly business environment

A new government minister has stated she is committed to making the UK the most family-friendly place to do business.
Theresa May, who has been appointed home secretary and minister for women and equality in the new Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition, suggested that mothers should have access to flexible working.
Speaking to HR magazine's editor Sian Harrington last month, she stated that measures should be adopted to promote this among firms.
She added: "I think it is absolutely right that [Cameron] has put the family right at the heart of [Conservative] policy."
In addition, it is not only women who can benefit from working in a flexible manner, Ms May went on to note. Rather, many people can flourish under such conditions, she claimed.
The politician is one of a small number of women on the new Conservative/Liberal Democrat coalition government that has been put together following the results of the general election on May 6th.
