Travel chaos 'could lead to insurance small print increase'

There could be an increase in the amount of small print contained on travel insurance policies as a result of the chaos caused by the volcanic ash cloud that has disrupted flights over the last week.
This is according to Laurence Price, director of aviation strategy at Mott MacDonald, who said that the situation could give rise to more exemptions.
He stated that he can understand why so many airlines have come to reject appeals for compensation made by consumers.
Mr Price added: "People will start realising that acts of god really do mean acts of god. Therefore, again there will just be more exemptions. Then you have the question - what price [for] full insurance?"
According to the expert, it will take at least two weeks for the problems to be sorted out.
The majority of airports are now returning to normal following six days of closure caused by the eruption of a volcano in Iceland.
