Men 'more likely to take employment grievances to tribunal'

Male workers are more likely to take grievances they have to tribunal, new figures suggest.
According to the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, six in ten claimants in 2008 were men.
The organisation - which aims to make UK businesses more competitive and provide individuals with the skills they need to succeed - based its findings on a survey of tribunal applications over the 12-month period.
It also found that older staff members were more likely to take such legal action, with people aged over 45 more heavily represented in the statistics than their younger counterparts.
Additionally, managerial workers were shown to have a greater propensity to raise issues at tribunal.
The department went on to note that private sector firms were involved in 72 per cent of the disputes.
Relatively few people were shown to have used mediation over the year, with nine per cent of claimants and seven per cent of employers having taken such measures.
