Sex discrimination in the City 'remains a problem'

Women still do not enjoy equal employment status in the City, it has been claimed.
According to Tatjana Hine, vice president of the World Association of Women Entrepreneurs, female workers are subject to sex discrimination in the capital's financial centre.
She remarked: "The City is definitely still the last bastion of problems as far as women are concerned. It is still very much male dominated and I think it will be for quite a while."
However, she noted that it is not always unfair treatment that results in an under-representation of female workers in high-profile financial organisations.
Sometimes, women do not want to be involved in such roles, Ms Hine claimed.
Her comments follow the release of a Women in the City report put together by a Commons Treasury Committee, which suggested that a shortage of females in the City may have contributed to the economic crisis experienced by the UK in recent years.
