Fuel duty 'seen as most unfair tax'

Consumers in the UK view fuel duty as the most unfair tax, new research suggests.
Conducted by MSN Money, the study - which involved a poll of its users - revealed that the levy was unpopular with the public.
Also making the top five least-liked duties were council tax, inheritance tax, road tax and VAT.
Meanwhile, income tax, stamp duty and capital gains tax also appeared in the top ten.
The results were based on responses sent by more than 150,000 people.
Responding to the findings, MSN Money's senior editor Simon Ward said: "With fuel prices heading for another record high, it's perhaps not surprising that fuel duty was the (un)popular choice as the most unfair tax."
In his recent Budget, chancellor Alistair Darling raised the level of fuel duty in the UK by one pence, with further increases set to come in October this year and January 2011.
