Tribunal awards 'to be paid more quickly'

Workers who are successful in their employment tribunal claims will now have more chance of receiving their awards quickly.
As of today (April 6th), a new government scheme is coming into force under which people will be able to use an extended service provided by High Court Enforcement Officers, who will complete the legal processes for them if employers fail to issue money.
The Employment Tribunal Fast Track Scheme requires claimants to pay £50 towards the costs of issuing writs necessary to seize assets.
Responding to the development, social policy officer at Citizens Advice Richard Dunstan said it was a positive one.
He commented: "[It will] give the employment tribunal system the teeth it needs to ensure that rogue employers actually pay the awards made against them."
The scheme was introduced by justice minister Bridget Prentice, who was appointed to her current role in May last year. She said that the initiative was targeted at a small number of "unscrupulous firms".
