Compensation claims for Havs 'on the rise'

Compensation claims for hand arm vibration syndrome (Havs) are on the increase, it has been suggested.
According to Zurich, the problem of incidents relating to this is growing among those whose jobs involve repetitive vibration.
To help firms deal with this, it has launched a guide to assist brokers and customers.
Commenting on the issue, construction and engineering director at the firm Carl Gebhard said: "Businesses most at risk from Hav exposures are within building construction, civil engineering, heavy engineering, utilities and estate management."
He went on to cite figures from the Health and Safety Executive, which suggest that five million workers in the UK are exposed to the occupational hazard, with two million experiencing a level at which there is a clear risk of developing vibration-related health problems.
The early signs of Havs include a tingling and numbness in the fingers and a loss of strength in the hands.
