Parliament to be opened for marriages and civil partnerships

The Houses of Parliament are to be opened to both MPs and members of the public for marriages and civil partnerships.
In a new development, the Jubilee Room and the MPs' dining room have been approved for use in non-religious ceremonies.
The move is the result of an investigation into the issue of holding ceremonies for gay MPs launched last year by speaker John Bercow.
This followed encouragement by prime minister Gordon Brown for the politician to examine the issue of such unions taking place in the Houses of Parliament.
Westminster's superintendent registrar Alison Cathcart commented: "I'm delighted that this prestigious venue has been granted approval and very much look forward to conducting the first civil ceremony in such famous and historical settings."
She went on to say that this will add to the "rich repertoire" of venues available in the area of Westminster, which is located on the north bank of the River Thames.
