Commercial property values 'up in December'

The value of UK commercial property rose last month, new figures from CB Richard Ellis (CBRE) have shown.
Its latest monthly index revealed that capital values increased by 3.3 per cent in December.
The firm, which has over 300 operating bases in more than 50 countries around the world, said this was driven in part by the performance of retail warehouses, which saw capital values go up by 6.1 per cent as a result of intense investment demand.
Commenting on the statistics, Peter Damesick, head of UK research at CBRE, remarked: "The sharply accelerating returns and value increases seen over the past few months inversely mirror the worst of the downturn seen this time last year."
He added that increased capital flows into property look likely in the near term.
Mr Damesick went on to claim that strong demand from overseas investors was one of the "key drivers of growth" in the sector.
