Travel agents 'should not sell insurance'

Travel agents should not be able to sell cover policies to holidaymakers, it has been claimed.
According to InsureandGo founder Perry Wilson, such people lack sufficient training to be able to sell insurance correctly, Travel Weekly UK reports.
He commented: "I don't think the trade should be able to sell insurance because they cannot be doing it properly."
Mr Wilson said that it takes him 12 weeks to train a member of staff.
This is a level of preparation that travel agents do not receive, he added, stating: "They just pay lip service to insurance".
Last month, Lloyds TSB released the findings of a study which found that one in ten British holidaymakers neglect to take out travel cover before heading abroad on vacation.
Head of current accounts at the firm Catherine McGrath stated that failing to buy insurance can prove to be a false economy as it means consumers are unable to recoup money spent in the event of an emergency.
